Tell us about yourself. (Age? Occupation? How long have you been CrossFitting?)

I am 32 years old, I work in the office of a local factory ordering all of the raw materials to run the production lines and I have been CrossFitting on and off for a few years now (give or take, I haven’t got  clue when I started)

What made you start CrossFit?

My brother got into it and that peaked my interest, so I gave it a go and have loved it ever since.

What have you learned since joining CrossFit King’s Lynn?

That I can push myself a lot further than I thought I could, even now it amazes me.

What do you enjoy most about CFKL or CrossFit in general?

The community side of it, meeting new people and having a laugh / taking the p*ss.

What is your proudest CrossFit moment?

I don’t know really, watching / ‘helping’ other people through a workout is always fun.

What is your favourite movement/lift? Least favourite?

Favourite lift – deadlift

Favourite movement – muscle up (not that I can do one yet)

Least favourite – thrusters

What are your CrossFit goals? How close are you to reaching them?

I would love to have a go at competing, and feel confident and ‘ready’ to compete. I feel like I am miles away from it at the moment, but there is always time.

When you are not CrossFitting? What is your favourite thing to do?

I have a 4 year old son so he takes up most of my time when I’m not at the gym or working.

What is the one tip you’d give someone who is thinking about starting CrossFit or who has just started?

Do it! Push yourself out of your comfort zone, it will be worth it.

What is your diet like? Has it changed since starting CrossFit?

Shocking! I am a lot more conscious of my diet than I used to be, I just need to be more consistent.

What impact has CFKL had on your life in and outside of the gym?

I have met some amazing people who keep inspiring me to do better. I am a lot more confident and outgoing than I used to be.

What is one fun thing about you that we may not know yet?

I love playing with fire (breathing/ juggling/ poi etc.)

If you could create a WOD, what would it look like?

Rope climb the Eiffel tower (over 1000ft or 70 rope climbs!) or team Parkrun relay (24 hour AMPRAP)

What were your thoughts after your first WOD?

I need to quit smoking!

How would you compare your first experiences to workouts today?

I still need to quit smoking! I am a lot more open to giving it a go and seeing how I get on.

What has been the hardest/most challenging part of your journey so far?

Consistency – life/ health getting in the way so I lose momentum.

Who is your favourite CrossFit athlete? Who do you look up to?

I don’t particularly follow top level athletes, but I look up to most of the ‘regular’ folk at the gym for different reasons.
